Operated through the Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development (CORD), the Chinmaya Vijaya Orphanage promotes girls’ mental and physical well-being by providing a wide range of services, including health care. Prior to joining Chinmaya Vijaya, girls are screened for communicable illnesses. All of the girls receive general health care at NRI General Hospital (NRIGH), conveniently located just five minutes from Chinmaya Vijaya. Cofounder and pediatrician Dr. Sumathi Mukkamala also uses her knowledge of child and adolescent health care to monitor the children’s health during her daily trips to the campus.
In addition to the emergency and first-aid treatments offered on campus, children have access to palliative and preventative care at both NRIGH and Sibar Dental College. The care at these institutions is provided cost-free to the children at Chinmaya Vijaya.
